Our goal is to create positive role models for women who want to participate in hunting.

Jeana: Jeana: I was 40. Yeah. So it was only seven years ago and so I was older than a lot of people but I guess younger than some people, too.

So you’re never too old to learn something new and if you’re passionate about it, you can become proficient.

Bruce: Let’s talk about any barriers that you had to get through, and this is for our listeners to hear what a lady 40 years old, married, husband loves to hunt and is investing time.

So let’s talk about how your husband taught you or allowed you to embrace the outdoors and embrace hunting and embrace harvesting game, killing game.

Jeana: Well, I guess I was lucky because our children were pretty much grown at that time so we didn’t have to worry about being at home.

They were both in high school so I didn’t have to worry about staying at home with them or finding baby sitters so we had the time to go out.

They were at the age to where they could take care of themselves so I had the time to go out and I know that that’s a problem for a lot of both men and women because in today’s world, there are a lot of single men out there that are raising children as well as single women. So that was on our side.

He just taught me that if I wanted to do it, all I had to do was put my mind to it. He had extraordinary patience with me.

I was not the easiest person to teach because I am very strong willed and hard headed and I love him for taking the time with me.

Jeremy says it’s hard passing up a 140, but the delay of satisfaction brings you a 190 or 180-inch buck. He shares that the most important factors in holding bucks in your land is food, bedding, and water. Running year-round nutrition and food plots will appeal to a deer throughout the year. It doesn’t matter how much acreage you have. If you can turn 40 acres into a prime deer establishment, they might not all stay in there but they’re all going to want to be there at one time or another, and that’s the key.

I quickly learned that you can only take Archery 101 and Shot gunning 101 a couple times before you are bored with it. So I set out looking for hunts that I could attend with other women.

I did find a few hunts but they were mostly “fund” driven events which meant along with that hunt came games and auctions in hopes of raising money for a certain organization.
Which is definitely a great cause, but it did not take long for me to get bored with those events as well–I wanted to HUNT.

I wanted the same experience any hunter would get if they booked a hunt with an outfitter…. great food, good fellowship and plenty of hunting.
There are a few organizations out there offering hunts but they are way out of my price range. Finally, I decided if I couldn’t find any outfitters willing to offer quality economical hunts, I would organize a few myself.

We devote all free time to the woods & water, with our family & friends!

Instead of letting all of our past footage sit on our hard drives, being watched only by us, waiting for the next inevitable computer crash to put it at risk….

we finally decided to do something useful with it! From that idea…..Outdoor-Devotion.com was born. (http://outdoor-devotion.com/about/)

It is exactly what it sounds like…devotion to the outdoors. We are Michigan based outdoor enthusiasts, who primarily focus on bow hunting mature whitetails. Most of us have known each other for many years, and have an ongoing hunting dialog via email, that we now are putting online. Outdoor Devotion – Jared Van Hees

We hunt all over Michigan, and all over the Midwest as well. Nebraska, Missouri, Ohio, Colorado and Illinois, have all been a part of our past experiences. Outdoor Devotion – Jared Van Hees

It is exactly what it sounds like…devotion to the outdoors.
Not only do we hunt whitetails, we also find other ways to keep busy when deer season ends. Scouting for the next deer season, ice fishing, shed hunting, turkey hunting & walleye fishing are a few ways we like to stay sharp. You can fond us on Face Book (https://www.facebook.com/OutdoorDevotion) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/outdoordevotion/)

Follow along as we post up our season highlights, and feel free to send in your successes to be published along with ours!

About Jared Van Hees..,“The day I passed Hunter’s Safety, I begged my Dad to take me duck hunting. We walked down to the Grand River in Grand Haven, MI and he told me to be ready. As we stalked up to the water’s edge….we jumped 3 mallards and I shot my first duck! Since then, the obsession has gotten worse each year.

College came along, where I scheduled my classes around bow season. This made for long Tuesdays & Thursdays on campus, but gave me lots of time to become the bow hunter I am today. I learned the basics of chasing mature bucks. Since then, my number 1 target is Mr. Big….but I still believe the trophy is in the eye of the beholder.

These days I find myself raising my twin girls when I’m not working. One day I will have two little hunting buddies, so raising them outside is important to me. When I do get free time, I am in the woods.”

ODAShare allows outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to share their outdoor adventures in an all new way, and connects each category with its resource hub ODACAM. ODAShare Memories – Chad Koch

Share your outdoor adventure!
Chad says – Sure, so essentially what we’re doing is we’re creating a social network that’s centered more to the outdoor enthusiasts of the world. Some of us think that we’ve noticed with the other social sites is a lot of it is all politics now.

There’s even been rumors that Facebook is going to stop allowing people to post pictures of their hunt, the animals that they’ve harvested.

So what we are looking to do is we’ve actually created a social network that is centered towards the pictures and videos that people have of anything from bicycling to water sports to hunting, fishing, motorsports, snow sports, you name it, if it’s the outdoors and you’re taking pictures and videos, we have a specific place for you to place those and store all of your images and videos, and really share it within different collective group of people that share the same interest as you.

It’s really endless. People are strapping cameras to everything nowadays.

Next week, I’m actually going to be riding in a pace car, and we are going to have a bunch of cameras inside of a pace car during a race. So drag racing, stock car racing, fishing is a big one especially around here.

Fishing has just taken off especially tournament fishing. So a lot of people are looking for ways to put cameras on different angles and really just capture that moment when the big fish is getting reeled in.

People are snowboarding, and any extreme sport. The possibilities are endless with this. So we have said what we wanted to do is create this social network that’s really going to apply to everybody in this, and give them what they want.

Blitz TV Trent Cole

Join Host and NFL Pro-Bowl Star Trent Cole (Philadelphia Eagles & Indianapolis Colts), and Richie Elam as they guide you on an all-out hunting Blitz across North America along with the Blitz TV Field Staff. With over-the-shoulder camera action, combined with state of the art video animation, Blitz TV brings an innovative program to the Pursuit Channel. Blitz TV Trent Cole

INDIANAPOLIS–Trent Cole is Hunting a Super Bowl in Indianapolis

You could say competitive sports run in the family for Colts linebacker Trent Cole. Eight of his uncles are high school or college coaches. His cousin, Norris Cole, is an NBA player who won two championships with the Miami Heat.

But the eleven-year NFL veteran also has another passion: hunting. Sports may be in his blood, but for Cole, the outdoors is a way of life. Blitz TV Trent Cole

“You’ve got to have a balance,” he says. “You’ve got family. You’ve got to remember that. It’s God first, family second, and then your job. And then there’s hunting. You’ve got to learn when it’s time to quit and have respect for everything.”

Growing up in rural Ohio, it was his stepdad who introduced him to hunting. He would ask his mom to leave him at the archery shop down the road so he could hang out, talk with the guys, and absorb as much knowledge as possible.

Once she bought him a bow, he says he was hooked – and his passion grew as he did.

“From there on, I had buddies of mine and we were filming our hunts and we had idols, like ESPN Outdoors,” he says. “And next thing you know, college came, we’re still doing it. NFL, I had a little change in my pocket, and I ended up starting my own production company and we’re doing DVDs and the next year, it turned into a TV series and now we’re on national TV.

This is my sixth year in television and we’re worldwide.”

Blitz TV airs on NBC Sports and the Discovery Channel. For Cole, it’s both a job and a release.

“I’ve always had coaches through my career, especially in the NFL,

tell me, ‘Man, you have a getaway. You have an outlet. You know how to switch it off and come back the next day and come back to work.’ It’s nice. It’s relaxing.”

This high-quality rear peep sight for compound bows is so genius it makes you wish you’d thought of it. It is called the Precision Peep, and the idea behind it is just brilliant.

“We believe in creating high quality peep sights that will benefit archers. We believe in great customer service. We don’t believe in gimmicks.

We believe in the Bible and the family dinner. We believe that a little bit of dirt is a sign of a happy childhood.

We believe in being outdoors. We believe the best date is on the back of a tailgate in the middle of a field.

We believe in farmers and ranchers and hunters. We believe in the goodness of people. And we believe in Precision Peeps.” Kristin and Bas Wolf Founders of Precision Peeps.

Each year, archers look for new ways to make themselves more accurate in the field as hunters and on the course as target shooters. The Precision Peep may just be the tool to do that.

Bas and Kristen are very professional and personable people that I consider friends. When they asked me to rep for them at the ATA, I was blown away.

I was asked to join Whitetail Stalker with Mike and Shelly Grandstaff (http://bit.ly/2kkum2L) in the fall of 2016 as well.

Hunting has and is not about the kill, it’s about nature. Enjoying what nature has to offer. Watching a squirrel scamper along the leaves, frost on trees on a cold morning, steam rolling off the water as the sun rises.

These are all things that truly are priceless to me. Now don’t get me wrong, do enjoy the animals that I harvest just the same. The whole process of finding, harvesting, processing and cooking natural food for my family is something that very few anymore can or even do.

Faith, Family, Service and Hunting! When not with my family, serving this great country or chasing game, I spend a lot of time working on fitness and staying healthy for my family. Plus, game doesn’t haul itself out of the woods on its own.

My Real World soybeans I bought off you fell to failure while battling what I call the perfect storm .

Due to the size of the plot, they were over browsed by deer, groundhogs and rabbits. Along with the unprecedented drought and hot weather we had here, they didn’t have a chance.

Most years with good moisture, they were able to stay ahead of the critters and although they don’t usually get real tall, they produced pods.

Enter GrandPa Ray. Food Plots John O’Brion

On July 28th with the prediction of rain, I went ahead and broadcast 2 bags of Grains & Greens and 1 bag of Frosty Delight along with 5#’s of buckwheat over the beans.

Well no rain showed up and one week later I very little to no germination – only some of the buckwheat and in a few damper spots some Frost Delight.

One week later we started to get some rain on a regular basis and low and behold, you see the results.
Most of this growth occurred in the last 10 days. It’s amazing what some rain can do. The beans are also coming along too and still providing forage.

I started putting in food plots approximately 15 yrs. ago. My soil is sandy and I plant “staging” plots for the deer inside my woods.

Never have I had to cut my clover because it had grown too high. Last year I started using the Grandpa Ray 9-4-9 plant food on this 2 yrs. old clover plot. I had to cut it 3 times!!!

I decided to see if it was a fluke that this happened, so am again using the 9-4-9 this year and as you can see the plot is nearing cutting height in this early June pic. This stuff works!!!

“Despite equipment innovations over the years, we hunters have learned to coexist. I believe we’ve become more accepting of each other, no matter what type of hunting tool we choose. And this is a good thing for the future of our hunting heritage. As hunting equipment manufacturers have innovated, the hunting market has grown, more people have jobs in our industry, and wild places and wild animals are better off. Four and a half or older, really it isn’t about inches at that point in time, it’s about letting the deer get to maturity.

But one thing we do is, we don’t just share people’s deer if they are over a certain amount of inches.

We want to instill that, you know, a trophy to me may not be the same meaning of a trophy to a young boy that went out on his first hunt and he only shot a fork horn a year and a half old.

And now, that’s something that we wouldn’t do, but it’s a trophy to them.

And it’s about the memories that they’ve got to go out and, you know, they can probably remember the exact moment they shot the deer and what it meant to them.

And they’ll remember that for the rest of their lives. It may even be a doe, but it’s about their trophy and what it means to them to take that animal. Trophy Bucks of Iowa Brandon Dahms http://bit.ly/2j9aOK7

Well, it’s…you know, and we’ll get sometimes where people will comment, “I can’t believe you took that deer.” Again, it’s all about what it means to that person.

You might have a five-year-old deer that’s never going to get to be 180 in its class. People see hunting on TV in Iowa, and they think they are going to come to Iowa and automatically shoot a Boone and Crockett deer.

You know, that’s just not the case. It does take great managing, having the right property, but to some people, their whole dream isn’t to shoot a Boone and Crockett, it’s just to have the memories, and get out there and have a successful hunt with family and friends.

You also have to make sure that every piece of equipment and clothing is covered up. Every little thing you can do to help control your scent is a little piece of the puzzle that’s going to turn you into a more successful hunter. Brian Gibbs is huge on that philosophy. He goes the whole nine yards with Be The Tree cover scents: from the body wash and shampoos, to the laundry soaps, to the scent-away bags. If a cameraman is with Brian, he makes sure that guy’s covered up as well. All these factors (including ScentLok camo) contribute to Brian’s success in professional hunting.

Whitetail Rendezvous “Listen- Learn & Succeed”
Whitetail Rendezvous “Listen- Learn & Succeed” Join host Bruce Hutcheon with Co-Founder Bob Roark, as he joins with his guests from across North America to talk about white-tail deer and lessons learned tips and techniques, stories the traditions of hunting, women in the outdoors and mentoring the youth. Bob & Bruce Co-Founders say Thanks

Whitetail Rendezvous vision is to educate collaborate and communicate with whitetail hunters across North America.

Let’s spend a minute or two sharing why Whitetail rendezvous was created.

I retired about four years ago and began spending more and more days hunting whitetails. I quickly realized that while traveling cross county to the Midwest from my home in Colorado I had hours of windshield time to get Whitetail smart. How the heck was I going to connect to audio information?

Answer, podcasts off my smart phone. Quickly I realized that while there were some good whitetail focused podcasts out there I just was not getting the info I wanted. Returning from last fall’s hunts I spent time listening to many different podcast forums and gained a lot of knowledge about podcasts.

I sure had a lot to learn about the how, what, why and when of producing value based content on a consistent basis for those with a passion for Whitetails. I knew that if I wanted to great focused information, useful strategies, new techniques and ideas on how it’s done right so would thousands of others.

The work really began when my good friend, Bob Roark said he was interested in the project and wanted to help bring it to life. Phew, was I glad about that for hundreds of reasons. He helped me develop the foundation of Whitetail Rendezvous. From an idea the project morphed into a passion to a build whitetail community that shares “great stuff” with guys & gals just like you.

Well as the song goes We have just begun…stay tuned all years long as we bring new guests with new content, teaching videos, whitetail insights, eBooks and introduce our Endorsed Partner program.
