Celebrate accomplishments, but don't dwell on past hurts or disappointments. In Christ, we are renewed daily. Learn from the past and face each new year and day with hope, anticipation, and faith.

During the holidays, a child in your class may be sad and withdrawn. You may long to comfort them, but be unable to. Remember, God sees this child's sadness and your longing to comfort them. Simply sitting with them, even in silence, may be the greatest sign of God's love they receive.

Schools are filled with unexpected and delightful moments of joy. Authentically share the Gospel of Christ with others by embodying joyfulness. Joy flourishes in classrooms when witnessed, celebrated, and nurtured. Embrace the giving and receiving of joyful moments during the holidays and anticipate the overflow of joy that will fill your heart.

Uniting diverse individuals remains a challenge. Educators face this daily. Administrators must harmonize the teaching staff, student body, and community. When will educators align with their administrators? Despite differences, we are all part of the same team. Understand your administrator's perspective and ask God to change your attitude. Pray for their well-being and support their efforts. Genuine interest in their vision and well-being is essential for unity.

Amidst busy schedules, teachers should prioritize regular prayer meetings to uplift each other and the school community. "Teachers Who Pray" encourages educators to gather weekly for encouragement and prayer, fostering a spiritual bond that can transform the world (John 17:23). This episode focuses on offering Guidance for New Teachers through prayer.

Parents entrust their cherished children to schools, expecting love, safety, and nurturing. Similar to Pharaoh's daughter, teachers should teach with the same diligence and care as if the students were their biological children. This approach can produce remarkable results for vulnerable students and their communities.

In today's education landscape, teachers must create nurturing environments where students feel seen, heard, and valued. Cultivating camaraderie involves acts of acknowledgment, creating a safe classroom, and promoting inclusivity and respect. By fostering community, celebrating diversity, and integrating spiritual principles, teachers can positively impact students' lives and help them develop a strong moral compass.

Time management is a phrase that produces an emotional response in teachers. We struggle with feelings of guilt and wrestle with tension between our work and personal lives. 

Can we really manage time? Let’s face it, time moves on no matter what we do. We can’t make it slow down, go faster, or stop.

At the beginning of the school year, we look ahead and think that we have all the time we need to accomplish great things with our students. In the spring, we see that time is of the essence and we are running out of this valuable resource. We ask ourselves if we have done enough. We wonder if we have impacted our students in a way that will make a difference. 

Instead of worrying about what we did or did not do, we can find comfort if we know that all of our work was done as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:17, 23). We have no choice but to offer our best work if we are dedicating our work to Christ. It may not be perfect, but even with our best efforts, it’s God who makes our work effective (1 Corinthians 3:6). The resurrection of Christ has already won the race for you and has claimed a place for you in the winner’s circle. Run forward knowing that you will hear the cheering of glory and receive a crown to lay at His feet (Revelations 4:10-11; James 1:12). 

In the end, the race of this school year is not yours to run for personal victory or gain; it is God’s victory and for His glory. Imagine the joy of walking into your classroom everyday with full confidence, knowing that the victory is already won.

Educators experience substantially higher rates of depression than the overall population. Teaching is considered as stressful as working as an emergency room doctor; two-thirds of children in the U.S. are impacted by trauma, which can alter brain connectivity, function and structure — and physical and mental health into adulthood.

Feelings of grief and loss, irritability and anxiety become magnified as a result of having less daylight; In a school, the change of seasons means less time outdoors, arriving at work in the dark and leaving in the dark and less sunlight in your classroom, which may be overheated or too cold. Prayer is necessary in all seasons; and nothing is more proper than to call upon the Lord. No matter what distress we are in, there’s nothing to be afraid of as long as we pray and rely on God. Recalling that Daniel was cast into the lion’s den and that his three friends were thrown into the burning fiery furnace, they all came out safe and sound for God was with them. As long as we rely on God in distress, the Lord will show authority and power to us.

Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open.
